Things to do ...

when we have visitors

Things to think about doing sometime:

Sites to look up things to do:

My wife's mom wants to have a family reunion in Colorado in "someplace like Rocky Mountain National Park".  I don't know what that means, but I am compiling a list of parks that allow picnic shelter reservations (I don't think RMNP does).

  • Chatfield State Park: -- Close to us (and to Denver), but not much what I would say is "Like RMNP".  Everyone would have to pay a State Park entrance fee ($5).

  • Golden Gate Canyon State Park -- Close & Mountainous.  Everyone would have to pay a State Park entrance fee ($5).

  • Pine Valley Ranch :  JeffCo Open Space Park.  We went here for a company picnic at one time.  Might be a bit far for some people to travel?

  • Rocky Mountain National Park:  If the goal is to find someplace "Like Rocky Mountain National Park", then this is the best spot.  I cannot think of anyplace in the world more like RMNP!  Of course, everything is first-come  first-serve.  Also, entrance fees are big.  And I don't know of any actual shelters.
